The best chocolates around, with fun flavors like Bumpy Cake (Max's fav and a homage to the classic Michigan dessert), Lemon Bar None, Salty Sap (Tay's fav) Killer Cereal, and Swimming Turtle.

A modern Italian restaurant and cocktail bar in downtown Detroit that's not only where we got engaged (although it is that), but also a great place to enjoy pasta, pizza or prosecco. Stopping in for a drink doesn't require a reservation, but we recommend it if you're getting dinner.

You can't come to Detroit without getting Detroit-style pizza, and this is the best in town, in our opinion.

Set in a restored historic church, The Congregation is one of our favorite spots to grab coffee when Max works outside the office.

According to the bartender Matt (say hi to him for us), their cheeseburger will cure all your childhood traumas. We've tried it and we're inclined to agree.

It's a time-honored Detroit tradition to come here and have someone yell at you for your coney order. It's also our favorite spot for a coney dog, one of the city's signature foods.

Shawarma, pita, tabbouleh and toum that will knock your hat in the creek. You'll also get to meet Sam, the owner and maybe the nicest person in all of Metro Detroit.

This place is serious about their coffee—they roast it in-house and make incredible tonics and lattes. It's also inside a former warehouse space that makes for a great hang.

One of the country's premiere art museums, this is a must-see. This was one of the stops on the weekend that Max first came to visit Detroit, and it's still one of our favorites. Be sure to see the Detroit Industry Murals in Rivera Court, make your way through the impressive collection of American paintings, and stop in for a refreshment at Kresge Court.

It's the largest historic public market district in the United States, and on Saturday mornings, you can shop from over 150 vendors selling produce, flowers, jam, bread, meat and so much more. There's also plenty of murals and small businesses in the area to explore.

This alleyway is a great place to stroll, grab a sweet little treat at Bon Bon Bon or Huddle Soft Serve, and enjoy the scenery and architecture of downtown Detroit. It's also named after one of Detroit's first Black landowners (fun fact).

Detroit establishments like Third Man Records, Carhartt and City Bird are all located in this convenient corridor.

For all you music lovers, this Irish pub has been flipped into a venue that hosts touring bands. It's also in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood, which is a great area to explore.
